By Eric M. Parks

As the landscape of the home business terrain constantly changes, there is a collective thinking pattern for those business owners in the know. For the few hundred or thousand folks that really understand the art of marketing they know that using freebies to get and keep customers is one of the best business practices.

Although business owners know that using freebies to lure customers may be the best way to do business, it doesn't really mean that these folks know how to obtain free things to give away. Finding the best things to give away takes time and effort because it is a matter of locating the right mix of freebies.

The type of giveaway that is chosen by a business entire depends on what type of business a person is running. The gift should be complimentary to the products and/or services that are offered from the business.

In order to find a free gift that is very unique to their business an owner may want to consider creating a gift to give away. The more popular created gifts include speacial reports and ebooks that help people with the solution to a problem they may be having.

Most business owners run into the problem of finding an acceptable price to pay for something that is intended to be given away in mass amounts. In a business that earns a residual income the price that is paid can be multiplied because one sale will bring multiple monthly returns for the business owner which means they can afford a little more on the freebies.

There are a couple of rules of thumb when it comes to free gifts and their distribution. Something that is intended to be given away in mass quantities should be obtained for free. This is where creating a gift comes in. But if free is not an option then the steadfast rule is that a free gift shouldn't cost more than ten percent of the net profit that is to be made from a sale of the product or service.

One way to show this would be to say that if a business sold a product or service and stood to make 20 dollars net on that sale then the cost of the free gift they give away should only be about 2 dollars.

Ultimately the key to finding the best gifts to give in your residual income business are those they are easy to obtain in great quantities for a reasonable price. While creating your own free gift is recommended, an online search can help you find many valuable freebies to use as bait for your customers.
