Thinking of a Home Based Business?

By Carole Wildman

When desiring to own a business in the mid to late 1990s, in the really early days of the Internet, prior to the dawn of the Internet Home Based Business, it would necessarily have had to have been a Traditional Bricks and Mortar Business. Recollections can be made of the Dot Com explosion, which eventually led to wildly speculative investments, culminating in the eventual bursting of the Dot Com bubble.

One must consider that even these "Dot Coms" had actual premises in actual physical buildings in various locations. With these also came inevitable overhead payments such as utilities, staff salaries and rents which were payable. To this day forward, even, although their businesses are certainly internet based businesses, these Dot Com giants such as Amazon, Google and Yahoo still need these very same things.

Whilst the trend towards people owning their own home-based businesses may have actually begun in the early 1990s, before Windows 95, and before the Internet became hugely popular, these giants certainly helped to usher in a whole new business model for the 21st century--the Internet Home Based Business.. At first, however, whilst these people were helping some other company save money on overheads such as salaries and production costs, they continued to do physical tasks such as assembling and selling computers, only they were doing this from the basement or a simple room in their home rather than an office...

It could be said that this home-based business model was merely an extension of semi-home-based businesses of previous years, such as selling life insurance. Although this may have been far better than the rat race, it was still rather risky, and could be quite expensive.

Owning an Internet Home-Based Business is another thing entirely, and there are many positive advantages between this option, and that of a traditional Bricks and Mortar Home Business.

* One way of doing this is by Affiliate marketing, and if operated correctly, marketing costs can be kept to a minimum. No inventory is needed, and computer parts etc can simply be delivered directly to the customer, rather than your own home.

* You don't need to sell from a physical store front, so you can be selling the products twenty-four-seven. You can make money in your sleep and while you're on vacation as people from all over the world shop online at all hours of the day and night--earning you pay every time they buy a product through you from your Internet Home Based Business.

* Much of the communication needed for the Internet Home based business can be done with the use of email, IM, and auto-responders. Although usually a telephone IS a necessity, with a few business models even this is not an essential.

So, what exactly ARE the ingredients to make an Internet Home Based Business a success?

* Firstly an attractive and dynamic website is needed.

* Ongoing support & training is an absolute must.

* The ability to give great value and excellent customer service to people.

* You need ongoing Support & Training to get your Home based Business off the ground

Here is possibly the greatest thing about an Internet Home based business today, however: you can follow a tried-and-true model and make it work. You don't need to take all of the big risks that sank so many of the Dot Coms. The way to make money from home, in your own way, on your own time can be learned by ANYONE who has a WILL to succeed. What are YOU waiting for?
