The Basics of Affiliate Marketing

By Kerry Southwick

Affiliate marketing is probably the fasted way to start making money online. Many fortunes have been made by regular people just like yourself by using this model on the internet. Before you can start your own fortune however there are a few different tips, steps and pieces of advice you should hear, so you don't end up like 99% of the would be affiliate marketers out there.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

How does an affiliate marketer make money? Well lets start first by explaining the marketers most basic goal. If he can drive a lot of people to his website then from there he can monetize and start raking in the cash

He partners with various companies and individuals who own products and are looking for a way to promote them. He agrees to push their product for a cut of the sale price. That percentage can range from 3% to 80% in some rare cases. Affiliate marketing is an attractive business model because of a few unique elements:

1.You don't need a product.

2. Customer service is up to the product owner.

3. You can do this entirely on your own.

4. You can do all of this from home

To Be Successful You Need To Take It Seriously

The biggest danger with a business like this is that because its so easy to start with little investment its also very easy to slack off on and never get anywhere with. What makes it even harder is when you see all those hypey advertisements that tell you can make $4,587 per week in your first month. This kind of talk gets people in a "get rich quick" mindset which set you up for frustration when you haven't achieved such unheard of goals in 3 seconds.

Steady, consistent and habitual are what will lead you to your sought after fortune. Remember the story of the turtle and the hare. Don't be the hare that sprints out in front and is quickly distracted only to to be overtaken by the disciplined turtle. The most successful people in the world got that way because they simply outlasted everyone else.
